One of the best treks in India, the Kedarkantha Trek is open in all the seasons, but the beauty of the trek is at its best in winters. Kedarkantha Trek begins from Village Sankri traversing through beautiful green lush trails and dense forest leading you to Saud village and then to the frozen lake campsite near Juda Ka Talab. Juda Ka Talab captivates with a beauty so serene that you blink twice to feel if the place really exists.

The forest of oak and tall pine trees with huge mountains in the background surrounds the glacial lake and offers an enchanting view. There are beautiful meadows,steep slopes & mesmerizing view of the mountain ranges at the Kedarkantha base camp.At the summit, a 360-degree view of mountain peaks sways you off; not just the famous peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kalanag, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and DhaulaDhar ranges but also numerous untouched and untainted peaks welcomes you with a warm embrace. This majestic scene is absolute delight to eyes, it is a sight that will stay with you lifetime.This weeklong tour can be easily commuted through Dehradun which can be reached from all parts of the country. Kedarkantha trek is one of the most beautiful & least expensive trek in India.

If you are a beginner and trekking enthrals you more than any other kind of expedition, then the Kedarkantha peak is one of the most sought after snow trekking destinations in India. The nature’s bliss here is in abundance as the place offers a picturesque view of the snow capped Himalayas along with lush greenery and beautiful waterfalls. Located at a height of 3810 meters which is about 12,500 feet this is an ideal trekking trail which covers a distance of 20 kms. The trail is not a difficult one which enables even the first time trekkers to set on the adventure and enjoy the beauty of nature at its best.

  • Day 01: Dehradun to Sankari (6450 ft.) (210 km – 7- to 8 hours)
    The twisting road follows a winding course going into the Yamuna valley via Mussoorie, and the Kempty falls, finally descending into the Tons river valley, crossing towns such as Sankri, Purola and Mori. Sankri is the last village connected to the motor road. This picturesque village is about 13 Kms inside the Govind Wild Life Sanctuary (Netwair is the place where the check post is located). Sankri is the gateway to the almost untouched Har-ki-dun (3566m) with the Swargarohini Peak(6096m) towering above it in the backdrop. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
  • Day 02: Sankari to Juda ka Talab (9000 ft.) (4 km – 4 hours)
    After breakfast trek towards Juda Ka Talab. Cross the village Saur and the road takes a wide curve. Later climb sharply to next to a stream. The trail gets into the pine forest and starts to climb sharply until you reach a ridge ten minutes later. On the ridge the trail evens out and widens for almost the rest of the day.   • Day 03: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base(11250 ft.) – 4 kms
    The trail out of Juda Ka Talab is clearly visible and straight forward. The trail rises to a ridge at the edge of the lake. At the ridge take a sharp left and dive into the dense pine forest climbing higher. Avoid the trail that goes ahead and down (that is another trail to Sankri used by shepherds).
  • Day 04: Kedarkantha Base (11,250 ft) to Kedarkantha Peak(12500ft) to Hargoan (9000 ft) --7Km
    In the morning view the sunrise from the Kedar Kantha meadows is as startling as the sunset. It is something worth getting out of your sleeping bags early for. It starts early at the meadows, so you need to plan it somewhat. Overnight stay in tent.
  • Day05: Hargoan (9000 ft) to Sankri (6450 ft) -7Km (6-7 Hours)
    The Hargaon camp site is another campsite that stays in your mind for its prettiness. There is plenty of firewood to light a campfire as well as rest day is relaxing and fun walk through the forest and on the well marked path.
  • Day06: Sankri to Dehradun (210 km )
    On arriving Sankri board the vehicle for Dehradun. Advisory :keep Himalayan Regions clean and green, free from all kind of plastic garbage
